My name is Sooksai Kaewbua. I am originally from Thailand where I received a B.S. in Economics and worked in business. I came to the U.S. in 2006 and later decided to change careers and earned my B.S. in Nursing from Murray State University. Since then, I have been working as a psychiatric nurse in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including working with veterans and patients of all ages. I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Psychiatric/Mental-Health track from the University of Kentucky. In 2017, I co-published a research paper focused on tobacco addiction treatment titled Factors associated with staff engagement in patients’ tobacco treatment in a state psychiatric facility (link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28398833).
I focus on holistic care with the right balance of medication, therapy, and lifestyle changes to address my clients’ mental, psychosocial, and physical health. I always look at the relationship between my clients’ physical health and mental health and try to figure out the root causes of their symptoms. I always adhere to a patient-centered care model and spend time explaining the treatment plan to my clients and always include them in the creation of their own treatment plans as you might have heard before - the best doctor in the world is yourself.
My goal for having a solo practice is to give people in and around Frankfort the option of getting mental-health care in a small private discrete and convenient setting.
In my free time, I like to eat at different restaurants, visit different places, watch movies, paint, cook Thai foods, and spend time with my family and friends.

Hi! I'm Nick. I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, specializing in the evaluation and treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), ADHD and Mood Disorders. However, I have broad experience in treating a wide spectrum of psychiatric disorders and mental health concerns.
My academic journey began at the University of Kentucky, where I earned bachelor's degrees in Human Nutrition and Nursing. Later, I pursued graduate training at Vanderbilt University, achieving a Master's degree in Nursing with a focus on Psychiatry and Mental Health.
My approach to mental healthcare recognizes that optimal mental health goes beyond prescriptions. I prioritize strategies for optimal living, employ evidence-based psychotherapeutic techniques and incorporate medications when necessary.
In our work together, my primary goal is to guide you toward achieving your best possible state of mental health. I deeply respect the unique experiences and backgrounds that shape each individual. Therefore, I work closely with you to define your vision of optimal mental health and provide unwavering support as you work toward your goals.
